Betty's Best: A Deliciously Easy Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix

As I wandered through the aisles of my local Lotus's supermarket, my stomach was growling with a craving for something sweet and satisfying. I had my heart set on a batch of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies, but much to my dismay, the bakery section was looking a bit bare. That's when I spotted it - a box of Betty Cookies' chocolate chip cookie mix, just begging to be taken home and transformed into a delicious treat. I couldn't wait to see if this mix would live up to my expectations.

Mixing the cookies

Betty Cookies' chocolate chip cookie mix makes big promises on its box - great taste in just 3 simple steps? Challenge accepted! I gathered my ingredients and got to work, eager to see if this mix would live up to its claims. With butter, egg, and mix all in the bowl, it was time to put this recipe to the test and find out if it's truly as easy as it seems.

Sure enough, all I needed was 100 g of butter and an egg, and I was good to go! The box promised "Great taste in 3 simple steps," and it delivered! I added the mix, the egg, and the butter, and it was great! Very simple!

I couldn't help myself: I put a little bit into some chocolate chip ice cream to see whether I could make cookie dough ice cream. (Disclaimer: NOT recommended) You really shouldn't do this due to the raw eggs and risk of salmonella but, after watching several TikTok of bodybuilders downing jugfuls of raw eggs, I decided, why not?

So, what's the worst that could happen? Salmonella, oh yeah. But I still did it and it tasted okay - better after I froze it first, and - as I'll explain later, actually a bit nicer than the final cookies!

Cookies the cookies!

I was excited to try out the chocolate chip cookie mix, but I knew I had a bit of a challenge ahead of me - I only have an air fryer, and I wasn't sure if it would be able to handle the job. But I was determined to make it work, so I decided to make small batches of 4 cookies at a time. I lined the air fryer basket with greaseproof paper, just like the instructions said, and mixed up the dough according to the package.

As I put the first batch of dough balls into the air fryer, I couldn't help but feel a little nervous. Would they come out okay? Would they be burnt on the outside and raw on the inside, like so many of my previous air fryer attempts? But I had faith in the mix, and I knew that if I followed the instructions carefully, everything would be fine.

So I set the timer and waited patiently for the cookies to cook. After a few minutes, I checked on them and was relieved to see that they were looking pretty good - they were golden brown on the bottom and starting to set on the top. But as I watched, I noticed that they weren't quite done yet - they still looked a bit doughy in the middle.

I decided to flip them over, just to make sure they cooked evenly. I carefully lifted each cookie out of the air fryer and turned it over, then put it back in for another few minutes. When the timer went off, I took them out and let them cool for a minute or two. And to my delight, they were perfect! They were crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, just like a chocolate chip cookie should be.
I repeated the process for the next few batches, and each time, the cookies came out great. I was so happy to have found a way to make delicious chocolate chip cookies in my air fryer - and it was all thanks to this mix!
